To start, please note that Red Curacao is an orange liqueur! It is part of the large family of curaçaos.

Red curaçao is made by distilling the bitter orange zest.  In fact, it is a particular variety of orange called bigarade.

Why is curaçao red?

The red colour is simply a hint of food colouring. And if you would like an uncoloured version of this artisanal Briottet liqueur, we recommend our Curaçao Triple Sec 25%. In fact, the recipe is the same, minus the dye.

Where does the name Curaçao come from?

Curaçao is actually an island in the Caribbean, an island in the Netherlands Antilles to be more precise. A little paradise in the Caribbean.
