Mirabelle plum brandy is one of the classic digestifs: a ‘must-have’ as some say! This is just as true as the essential Williams pear or delicate raspberry brandies.
The mirabelle is a delicious variety of plum. Yellow in colour, often speckled with red, its flesh is very sweet.
For a quality brandy, it is essential to select mirabelles from the best terroirs, particularly Lorraine. Indeed, as a unique raw material, it is what ensures the finesse and richness of the taste. Immediately after harvesting between mid-August and the end of September, they are fermented and then distilled. The distillation method concentrates the fruit's aromas. The result is a smooth and rounded brandy. Not for the faint-hearted, as this is a 45% alcohol digestif! ;)
For a little original touch to accompany a slightly heavy meal, you could serve a trou Lorrain with a mirabelle plum sorbet drizzled with its brandy! Thanks to its high alcohol content, it can also be flambéed (just remember to heat it up first).
A déguster bien frais, en fin de repas. Elle pourra également s'utiliser en cuisine pour un magret de canard aux mirabelles, pour décoller les sucs après cuisson, un délice !
